Progettati per uno spazio ‘coozy’ , sedute per un cinema allungato, per uno spazio immersivo di connessione ovattante tra film e spettatore.&#38;nbsp;
I cuscini sono stati realizzati con tessuto in fibre sintetiche e imbottitura in ovatta di lana.

*cannot be washed is an interactive sculpture, a narrative tool to place in question, and merge, two symbols of clean and dirt, soap and dust.


The piece is a semi-transparent sculpture made of glycerine based soap, essential oils which holds and treasures the dust inside. 


It is a sense of encapsulation, where the role of


soap, usually directed towards the removal, the search of


purity, here act to preserve, to custody unwanted remains of the body and its surrounding.

This book encapsulates a material research that was experienced up close. It questions the figure of the material designer, posing questions regarding the production of the new. 


Shaped by Dust, foregrounds the existence of substance itself, of what it implies on a behavioural, social and economic level. 


The research was conducted in the Netherlands, courtesy of ASML, in which I participated as a researcher in the decontaminated laboratories where chips and semiconductors are produced.

‘This thesis presents an accumulation of research, thoughts, and reactions concerning the definition of dust and dirt; explicitly, how over time humans have become accustomed to raising barriers and designing realities to avoid it. Dust maintains a constant presence that is truly difficult to eliminate. In this paper, dust will be identified as matter, traceable to negative perceptions and subsequent removal actions. Moreover, this research has been approached through the immersive, investigative exploration of places related to the veritable apex of cleanliness, such as cleanrooms, decontaminated environments, and spaces of accumulation. Resultantly, closely exploring these environments led to a broad view of the realities that are dominated by the imperatives of cleanliness and control. It is in light of this that the grey intersections throughout these pages act as antigens, seeking to stimulate a response to the main body of the text. Ultimately, this is a reflection on the behaviors, decisions, and fears that humans experience and associate with dust, as well as operating as a critique of the detachment and rejection of a substance that we ourselves produce.’

The space of a cleanroom is engineered to remain as sanitized 
as possible. The manufacture of widespread microchips relies on these actively cleansed conditions, where the presence of dust becomes antagonized to ensure optimal commercial production through maximum isolation and control. After four months of conducting embodied research working in these cleanrooms, The project reinscribes the perspective of dust within these environments. In an interactive installation, participants shift into investigators of the nature and experience of dust as a constant entropic entity reigning outside a cleanroom. Prompted by an audio protocol, Shaped by Dust presents the particles as a silent record of human actions and decisions.

The intention behind the investigation is to redefine the role of the material designer; the project aims to initialise a close understanding with a substance that outside is unvalued, worthless and symbol of dirt. The investigation reveals where dust obtains economic and production value, indirectly, by its absence,remaining the protagonist of an infrastructure which manufactures the internal and fundamental parts of every electronic device.

Through the careful analysis of various national flags, the installation takes common graphic elements to form a multiplicity of patterns, allowing a gradual formation of a mosaic appearance to surface. The installation is, a mirror that allows you to see yourself&#38;nbsp; reflected onto it. The mosaic pattern is divided into multiple units and extruded in 3D space as cubes, spreading out from the centre forwards and backwards. The extended cubes are spread out, creating a visual illusion such symbols that come with meaning are no longer recognisable, rendered meaning-less.

Muted framework, mirrors are placed on a transparent textile-covered cuboid frame. The interactions, movements in the immediate environment are reflected back to the viewer and questions one's perceptions of the present reality.

Bhebho is a soft sculpture made of recycled cotton and leftover gifted from&#38;nbsp; schuimrubberbetaalbaar, a mattress company in The Netherlands.

Bhebhoh is an organism and a space to undertake a journey to unlearn materials. In this case fabrics.


When interact with a material, perceive also the species and the ecosystem that rely on it.&#38;nbsp;Resources shouldnít be just for us (humans) but operate in a network. It is not only a relationship with the material but to the planet. It has multiple layers: individual- community-earth. The connection become more collaborative than it does on extract-make-dispose.
